Adult Residential

Jubilee House provides residential adult care, currently purchased by Hertfordshire County Council, within three separate homes for people with varying levels of dependency. Care is taken to ensure the environments are welcoming and homely with emphasis on the fact that they are indeed the service users’ homes.

The staff work in a sensitive and respectful manner taking care to offer the service users opportunities and choice, mindful of the individual's needs and wishes and with the aim of empowering and supporting all people in maximising their independence.

HOMES

Jonquil House Lincoln Close

We have a six-bedded detached bungalow, with a well-maintained and secluded garden, which was built in 1992 especially to provide 24 hr care (including Waking night staff) for 6 people with complex and profound learning disabilities.

This home is owned and maintained by Sanctuary Housing Association with all management responsibilities entrusted to Jubilee House.

The building has been designed to ensure it meets the physical needs of the service users with full wheelchair access, specialist bathroom and adapted kitchen facilities. To further enhance the living environment and opportunities for the service users, the bungalow also has a specially designed and fully equipped sensory area.
There is a minimum staffing ratio of 1:3. However, in recognition of the high levels of personal care required and to ensure one to one time, the staffing ratio is generally 1:2.

Jubilee House manages two properties, which are owned by Welwyn Hatfield Council and are homes for people with moderate learning disabilities.

The first is a ground floor four bedded converted pair of maisonettes and provides a home for four people.

In a safe and supportive environment the service users are helped to build on their existing skills and to develop new skills and identify personal goals in order that they may have a full and satisfying life.

The service users are encouraged and supported to take part in a variety of leisure activities either individually or as part of a group however staff are sensitive to an individual’s right to choose.

This home always has a sleep in member of staff and, in order to meet service users’ individual needs a staffing ratio of 1:2 is provided at key times.

The second property is a first floor flat for two people with moderate to mild learning disabilities. This property is situated above our ground floor maisonette. (Due to the stairs this accommodation is not suitable for people with severe mobility problems.)

The service users are encouraged and supported to maintain their existing skills and identify new areas they wish to develop, in order to maximise their independence. The staff work hard to empower the service users to achieve their aims and fully involve them in all decision-making affecting their lives.

The flat is staffed at key times on a 1:2 ratio and the service users are always able to contact a member of staff. Although the service users do not require 24 hr staffing, additional staffing is made available if necessary to assist people with individual programmes or to enable one to one time.

The aim of both these homes is to promote and enable independent living skills.
